The Institute
participated at India International Trade Fair to display
technologies/products developed at IPIRTI. The fair was organized by
India Trade Promotion Organization and Federation of Micro Small and
Medium Enterprises at Pragati
Maidan, New Delhi, during 11-14, November
1999.
International Construction Industry Seminar and
Exhibition-21st to 25th March 2002-Hyderabad
This exhibition was
jointly organized by Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, National Academy of
Construction and Major Private Constructions Companies which was
inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Poverty
and Alleviation Shri
Ananth Kumar. IPIRTI has displayed its materials
alongwith BMTPC stalls.
IPIRTI has focused on
bamboo as a construction material in low cost, very good alternative
material for any solid wood in the purpose of making furniture, new
technology developed using finger jointing technology for panel doors by
Rubber Wood.
Shri
Ananth Kumar, Minister,
Hon’ble Minister for Poverty and Alleviation shown keen interest
in the technology for bamboo corrugated sheets, bamboo laminates and
appreciated for our efforts.

architectures, engineers, builders, professors, students etc., utilized

Bamboo Committee, Tamil

Tamil
Nadu Forest Department has undertaken a
comprehensive program for development of bamboos in Tamil
Nadu and has formed a ‘Bamboo Committee’ in
May 2001 for working after all round development of bamboo. Director,
IPIRTI is a member of this committee.
Steering Committee for development of Sector in Andhra
Pradesh
As a part of National
Bamboo Mission of the Government of India, the
Govt.of Andhra Pradesh has constituted a ‘steering committee’
under the banner of Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion
Centre (APTDC) to create awareness on various applications of bamboo and
also extend technical and financial support to a few project. APTDC has
conducted a workshop at Vishakhapatnam in
March 2002 to disseminate technical and market information on various
general and value added products that can be made from bamboo and about
techno commercial support available in this sector. Director, IPIRTI is
a member of the Steering Committee.
Tamilnadu
tourism trade fair – 16th to 17th March
2002-Chennai
IPIRTI has participated
along with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department
in the Forest Pavilion in Island Ground for Tamil
Nadu Tourism Trade Fair under the guidance of Ministry of
Environment of Forests for promoting the technology at IPIRTI in various
areas based on wood.
IPIRTI has focused in
advantage of bamboo laminates, bamboo corrugated sheets, panel doors
and finger jointed glue laminated
devan, vertical bamboo laminated centre
table etc.
People were very much
interested to know about the technology and applications developed at
IPIRTI, Bangalore.

Wood 2002-8th -12th February 2002-Bangalore
In INDIA WOOD 2002,
around 148 participants from 15 countries were participated, IPIRTI was
one of the participants in that exhibition.
The exhibition focused
in the field of Wood Work machinery, Tools, Fittings, Accessories,
Materials and Products. IPIRTI exhibited the new technological
development products like Bamboo laminates, Bamboo Corrugated Sheets,
Coir Trays and Finger jointed rubber wood laminated furniture etc.
IPIRTI had chosen the
INDIA WOOD 2002 to show case it’s most advanced and innovative
technological solutions for wood working industries particularly for
plywood manufactures. IPIRTI showed the valuable insights into
developments in Bamboo materials, Bamboo housing, adhesive for plywood’s
and Training.
IPIRTI had created the
awareness to the visitors in the following areas:

Training for the
science graduates and the industry personnel
For the first case,
IPIRTI exposed to the visitors that Bamboo is the good alternative for
any traditional wood like construction material for housing, flooring,
wall paneling and for furniture. In the second case, a valuable vision
of the rubber wood in the area of preservation, bleaching and
furniture. In the third case, How can be make the defective and shorter
logs in to the value added end products and strengthen material by using
the finger jointing technology. In the fourth case, provide the short
term course information to the industry personnel and one year PG
Diploma course in Mechanical Wood Industries for Science/Engineering
Graduates.

Industrial India Trade Fair 2001, 21st – 31st
December 2001-Kolkata
The fair was inaugurated
by the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal Shri.

at the weather based evening.
Our IPIRTI stall was put
up along with the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation in the West
Bengal Pavilion.
IPIRTI stall was the
only premier institute lifting the mantle to create the awareness to the
general people and the business personnel among the other stalls.
The people of West
Bengal enquired much about the Bamboo Mat Corrugated sheet technology
and application.
About 5
lakhs visitors from the various field like
Architects, Builders, Engineers and general people visited our stall and
appreciated the novel developmental work carried out on Bamboo Mat
Corrugated Sheets, Bamboo Laminates, Bamboo Trays and also the Pine
Needle based panel products.
In connection with IITF
–2001 Dr. S.K. Nath, Scientist E-I, Head CBD,
conducted a one day workshop on Bamboo Based Technology Developed at
IPIRTI held at Aranya
Bhavan, Salt Lake, Kolkata on
28.12.2001, some of the plywood industries personnel and forest
development personnel participated in that workshop.
India International Trade Fair 2001-14th – 27th
November 2001-New Delhi
IPIRTI has
participated the IITF-2001 held at New Delhi
– Pragathi Maidan
during the period of 14.11.01 to 27.11.01. Many of the foreign
countries were participated like China,
Bangaladesh,
Nepal,
Srilanka,
Canada, Australia, UK, etc in the fair.
IPIRTI carried the (1)
Existing panel products, (2) Panel products developed by the institute,
(3) Agro based panel boards, (4) Use of plantation timbers in furniture
with finger joints, (5) Bamboo Mat Board (6) Bamboo Vertical Laminates,
etc for exhibition.
IPIRTI displayed the
photographs, which clearly cover the history of the institute and its
activities like training, testing, instruments developed and bamboo
housing.
During the whole
exhibition period the public were happy at the video demonstration of
Bamboo Mat Board Processing. This was the very important media to reach
the producer and the end user.
The business meeting
during the morning session was quite interesting, as we had to deal with
lot of genuine queries.
The young and dynamic
entrepreneurs were very much interested to know about the technology
particularly in (a) Types of moulds for trays making both in bamboo mat
& Coconut coir. (b) Bamboo mat board for interior & exterior use. (c)
Bamboo mat corrugated sheet for manufacture and sale. Few foreigners
like Africans were much interested in “Rice Husk Particle Board”,
Nepalese for bamboo vertical laminates, Australians
for roofing materials and wall paneling.

appreciated the developmental work carried out on Bamboo Mat Corrugated
Sheets, Bamboo Laminates and Bamboo Mat Trays. The concluding session

on 6th evening.

Seminar on Affordable Housing Using bamboo and Bamboo Composites:
One-day Seminar on
“Affordable housing using Bamboo and Bamboo Composites” was jointly
organized by IPIRTI, Bangalore & TRADA Technology, U.K., at IPIRTI,
Bangalore on March 20, 2001. The collaborative work of IPIRTI and TRADA
Technology Ltd., U.K. under DFID KAR Project “Bamboo
Shelter-demonstration of best construction practices” was highlighted. A
demonstration house using bamboo, Bamboo Mat Board(BMB)
and Bamboo Mat Corrugated Sheets (BMCS) in combination with other
housing material constructed in IPIRTI premises was on display. Brief
presentations on various technical aspects of IPIRTI - TRADA bamboo
housing system including testing of building components were made by

H.Guruva Reddy and Mr.S.S.Zoolagud.

Interactive Meet on Use of Bamboo and bamboo Composites in Construction:
Interactive
meet was organized on September 22nd, 2000 to highlight the bamboo
composites and their applications in housing and construction. The meet
was aimed for dissemination of information among Architects, Designers,
builders, Entrepreneurs and Researchers for better utilization of Bamboo
and Bamboo composites. More than 50 delegates took part in the meet.
IPIRTI Scientists made brief presentations on Research and Development
Works carried out at IPIRTI in developing Bamboo Composites and their
use in housing and construction. The delegates were highly impressed by
the work carried out at IPIRTI in developing Bamboo Composites and their
use in housing and construction in combination with bamboo and other
contemporary materials. |
